Healthy Oils

Get to know your oils:

Vegetable oil?

It has the word vegetable it MUST be healthy! - hmm no, that’s not always true

That’s why reading the labels when buying your groceries is SO important

Knowing your oils is also important.

Look out for:

  • Rapeseed

  • Soya bean

  • Sunflower

  • Corn

  • Safflower

  • Or if you see the word “Hydrogenated” on a nutrition label - this is a good clue it contains trans fats

So, omege-6’s are found in these oils, and the excess consumption of these omega-6s can trigger the body to produce pro inflammatory chemicals (which causes or triggers inflammation in our bodies; so if you are already prone to inflammation it would be best to stay away from these oils) - and lets be honest our current diets contain a lot of these oils; so try your best to avoid cooking with them or consuming them - yes its hard, they’re everywhere and we don’t alway bother reading the labels to things we buy, or when we want to munch on a bag of chips/crips or have a few pieces of fries.

But its good to know and keep in mind to avoid them in our everyday diet - this itself is a step towards your health and self-care.

This doesn’t mean you have to stay away from all oils or fats, no:

Try using these “healthier” oils instead:

  • Olive Oil

  • Avocado Oil

  • Coconut oil

  • Ghee (grass fed)

  • Butter (grass fed)

Our bodies need fats; healthy fats. Fats are key to a vital to the proper absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, fats also supports a proper brain development, and also plays a key role in hormones synthesis.

Take care of yourself because no one else will!
